On Thursday, June 18, the Supreme Court issued a ruling that upheld the deferred action

for Childhood Arrivals program, better known as DACA, the program was started under the

Obama Administration in 2012 under pressure from immigration rights activists.

Effective immediately, the Department of Homeland Security is taking steps to lift the shadow

of deportation from these young people.

DACA aimed to protect undocumented immigrants who were brought to this country as children

by offering them a temporary stay of deportation.

Along with the chance to apply for a permit to work and study in the United States.

But several years later, the newly elected Trump administration tried to get rid of DACA,

then Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the program would be eliminated in September

of 2017.

The program, known as DACA, that was effectuated under the Obama Administration is being rescinded.
