I'm Brian.

It's good to be here with you this morning,

or this afternoon or this evening wherever you might be.

It's morning for me so I'm having some morning coffee. It's kind of stretching out, chilling out here around the

global campfire. It's nice to see you. I'm glad we can be together. Man I'm really glad we can all be together for

the territory that we've been moving through in the Bible as we navigated suffering

in the book of Job. We finished the book of Job yesterday and so that leads us

forward into some other very, very deep territory in our lives and hearts.

We're going to begin today the Book of Ecclesiasties,

and that's one of those books in the Bible were like yeah these Old Testament things I get so

confused about all this but man when we get into them, I'm getting to Job, right?

It's speaking, especially if we experience drama.

Ecclesiastics is going to go into a deeper place in our hearts, right adjacent to some of that.

Both Job and Ecclesiasties, as well as the book of Proverbs, the book of the song of

Solomon and even some of the Psalms are part of a grouping of books that that is

in the Bible known as wisdom literature and it is indeed there to

take us into the inner self in the inner parts of our lives and the deepest of pain that we can experience, as well as the joy of joys that we can experience.

So Ecclesiasties, its author, is traditionally King Solomon. That's been hotly

debated over a long period of time for all kinds of reasons.

But the book probably did originate sometime during Solomon's reign.
