As we gather around the global campfire and take another step forward on the grand voyage,

our own lives as we find our own hearts and our own motives and our own brokenness and open ourselves to healing from it

as we allow the scriptures to inform our steps and our moves, our thoughts, our words, and our deeds. I'm grateful that we are

together for another step forward. Brand new territory for us, Old Testament and New Testament.

When we get to the New Testament, we will read an entire book which is a letter and we'll talk about that

when we get there but we're in the old testament now and we are beginning a book called Lamentations and Lamentations obviously

obviously lament is in that word and none of us like that too much.

Lamenting speaks of sadness, speaks of regret.

None of us, none of us are in love with those things, but they are a part of life and they are a part of the Bible.

And so lamentations is composed of five poems.

So we should know that kind of going in.

This is five poems of lament, of regret,

over the fall and the destruction of Jerusalem.

We can check out there going, that was then, that's the other side of the world but if we thought of maybe

wherever we live being just completely annihilated and destroyed our home

destroyed all the displacement that would be involved in that, all the loss,

and realizing that we let it happen,

if we even just personalize that into our home and watch or consider its destruction.
