And enjoy and an honor and a privilege to be here with you today as we gather around the global campfire

and move forward on our journey through the Bible this year.

And obviously every day leads us to where we left off. That's how we take the next step forward

and that leads us back into the book of Jeremiah. Today we will read chapters 35 and 36.

The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord in the days of Jehoiachim, the son of Josiah,

King of Judah saying,

Then I took Jehaz and Ia, the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habats and Ia,

and his brothers and all his sons and the whole house of the Recobeites.

And I brought them into the house of the Lord, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdalia,

a man of God, which was by the chamber of the officials,

which was above the chamber of Mealsia, the son of Shalom, the keeper of the door.

Then I set before the sons of the house of the Recobeites, pots full of wine and cups, and I said to them,

drink wine, but they said, we will drink no wine.

For Jonah dab, the son of Recobe, our father commanded us saying,

you shall not drink wine, neither you nor your sons, forever.

You shall not build a house, so seed, plant a vineyard, nor own one.

But all your days you shall dwell in tents so that you may live many days in the land where you sowed your own.

Thus, we have obeyed the voice of Jonah dab, the son of Recobe, our father,

and all that he has charged us to drink no wine all our days.

We, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters, nor to build houses for us to dwell in,

and we do not have vineyard or field or seed.
