Today is the 29th day of May. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian and it is

wonderful to be here with you today as we gather at again around the global

campfire and move forward together on our journey through the Scriptures this

year. And our journey will lead us back into the book of second Samuel where we

have been camping out and moving our way through. As we learn of the reign of King David,

David has made mostly right moves moves from a good heart and good character but

he's also made a really bad maneuver and taking another man's wife, Bath Chiba,

and having her husband killed to cover it up, which creates a lot of unrest in

David's family and so David's daughter has been raped by her brother Amnon and Amnon

has subsequently been killed by his brother Absalom and Absalom has been sent away from Jerusalem

back to his grand parents. And so let's pick up the story. Second Samuel chapter 14 verse 1

through 15 verse 22 today.

Joab realized how much the king longed to see Absalom. So he sent for a woman from

Takoa who had a reputation for great wisdom. He said to her,

pretend you are in mourning, wear mourning clothes and don't put on lotions, act like a woman who

has been mourning for the dead for a long time. Then go to the king and tell him the story I am

about to tell you. And Joab told her what to say. When the woman from Takoa approached the king,

she bowed with her face to the ground in deep respect and cried out, oh king help me.

What's the trouble? The king asked,

Alas I am a widow she replied, my husband is dead, my two sons had a fight out in the field and

since no one was there to stop it one of them was killed. Now the rest of the family is demanding

let us have your son. We will execute him for murdering his brother. He doesn't deserve to inherit
