Beautiful to be here with you today.

Grateful to be around the global campfire with you today as we gather again and continue our journey day by day step by

step through the Bible and we are in the book of first Samuel high drama big transition

in the life of the children of Israel we're we've entered into the era of the monarchy

we've gotten to know king Saul. And then we've

met David famous for the Psalms, but he will become a king of Israel. We're at the beginning

of that story. We watched David move from obscurity into national treasure,

international celebrity in the David versus Goliath story.

David kills the giant Goliath.

And that is a remarkable victory for Israel over their enemies

It will unsettle a very fragile ego of King Saul

Let's watch how this plays out. First Samuel

chapter 18, verse 5 through 19, verse 24 today.

David went out wherever Saul sent him, and he was successful.

So Saul put him in charge of a group of soldiers.

All the people approved, as did Saul's officials.

As the army was coming back from battle, when David was returning from striking down the

Philistine, women came out from all the cities of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing,
