Today is the 15th day of July. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I'm Brian. It's great to be here with you today as we do what we do all the time every day gather around the global

campfire and find this oasis move through the scriptures, move through our week together, move through our lives together,

and all those things are underway and it's wonderful to have this time to spend together spending it in the scriptures, taking the next step forward,

and the next step leads us right to where we left off.

That happens to be the Book of First Chronicles

today, chapters 19, 20, and 21.

Sometime after this, King Nahash of the Ammonites died and his son Anun became King.

David said, I am going to show loyalty to Anun because his father,

Nayash, was always loyal to me. So David sent messengers to express sympathy to

Anoon about his father's death. But when David's ambassadors arrived in the land of

Ammon, the Ammonite commander said to Anun, do you really think these men are

coming here to honor your father?

No.

David has sent them to spy out the land so they can come in and conquer it.

So Hanun sees David's ambassadors and shaved them, cut off their robes at the buttocks and sent

them back to David in shame. When David heard what had happened to the men he sent

messengers to tell them stay at Jericho until your beards grow out and then come

back for they felt deep shame because of their appearance.

When the people of Ammon realized how seriously they had angered David,

Anun and the Ammonite sent 75,000 pounds of silver to hire chariots and charioteers

from Aram, the Aram, Mira Mijaka, and Zova. They also hired 32,000 chariots and secured the support of the King of Meaka and his army.
