Today is the 30th day of January. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It is wonderful to be here with you today as we gather around our global campfire together again.

This peaceful place that is ours.

We make it safe and peaceful and we come for one reason to let the scriptures speak into our lives and kind of hit us however they do.

We can come here for information or we can come here to try to piece the history together,

or we can come here for any number of reasons, including just like to assuage our guilt

and feel like we're devotional, kind of paying attention to our spirituality, or we can

come in here into this oasis that we

make every day and open our hearts, knowing that the Bible, this is something that we're

in a relationship with, something that we're just trying to get through, something that brings something to us

that we need to know, or that we need to shift away from, or that we need to embrace

and walk toward.

I am grateful that we have a place like this, and then we can do what we're doing.

And so, let's do it.

We're in the book of Exodus at this point.

We have met this figure named Moses, who is becoming a leader of the children of Israel, but it's very complicated.

The children of Israel are slaves to the Egyptians.

But God has determined that he's going to set them free.

It's going to take the agreement of the king, the Pharaoh of Egypt,

who believes that gods of Egypt are much more powerful than any slave God,

and that he himself is a deity.

And God is... D is dismantling that idea. And we can look at Pharaoh and his hard hearts

and think he's the bad guy. And he is in this story. He's standing in the way. And then we can look at our own selves and our own hard hearts.
