Today is the 14th day of January. Welcome to the daily audio Bible. I am Brian.

It's great to be here with you. It's wonderful as we greet a brand new week.

And that week is out in front of us, that's our future.

And we will tell the story of our lives of this week

with what we do and say and think.

So as I often will say, this is a fresh start,

no matter how bad last week might have been,

this is a fresh start.

We're moving forward,

brand new week in front of us,

and let's center ourselves in the scriptures

as we move into this brand new shiny sparkly week.

We'll read from the Christian Standard Bible this week and we will obviously be

picking up where we left off yesterday and that puts us back in the book of

Genesis today chapter 30 verse 1 through 31 verse 16 When Rachel saw that she was not bearing Jacob any children, she envied her sister,

give me sons or I will die, she said to Jacob.

Jacob became angry with Rachel and said, am I in the place of God?

He has withheld the offspring from you."

And she said,

Here is my maid Bilha.

Go sleep with her and she'll bear children for me so that through her I too can build a family. So Rachel gave her slave Bilha to Jacob as a wife and he slept

with her. Bilah conceived and bore Jacob's son. Rachel said, God has vindicated me.
