This is the third Sunday in the season of Advent, the Sunday of joy.

And as we remember, Advent means arrival.

And the season of Advent is a season of preparation, where we put ourselves in a position of longing for the arrival

of the Savior as those so long ago were waiting. And we recognize the longing in our hearts

for all things to be made right because we live in a world where it's so deep inside of us, where we long and we know this is not how it's supposed to be.

So we too long for the advent, for the arrival of Jesus.

And that can, man, that can serve to focus our hearts in a crazy season that is so, you know,

that pulls us so deeply into all kinds of different materialism,

but also really, really good things, goodwill, and hope. And so there's like so much mixed

emotion happening in the season and so much busyness and so much disruption to our normal flow of things that the season of Advent can serve to to ground us and so grateful to be here with you on the third Sunday of Advent as we take another step forward and we will immerse ourselves in and read in its entirety another book of the Bible.

The book of Jonah.

And Jonah is a part of the grouping of books known as the Minor Prophets.

But Jonah is a book of prophecy with a bit of a twist.

Jonah was a prophet who lived in the Northern Kingdom of Israel.

He lived pretty much due west of the southern part of the Sea of Galilee. and he lived during the reign of King Jeroboam

Now, most of the prophets in the Bible, they are sent to call their own people to some form

of repentance and to offer some form of warning.
