I am Brian. It's great to be here with you today as we wind things down on another week.

So it's our custom, our ritual, our tradition around here is to gather up.

Remember we started this week, brand new, shiny, and sparkly?

How did things go?

We realize, you know, all the different things that we face, but all the choices and words and

all the thoughts, words, and deeds, actions, choices, they made up the week.

In some ways, we were intentional and we paid good attention and we handled that well.

And, I mean, just looking at our highs and those, basically, shows us where we have work to do.

And so we do that as we continue to allow the scriptures to give us eyes to see and ears to hear first and foremost about ourselves, about our own hearts, and then about how we take care of each other and love one

another. So let's jump back in. Now we have in the book of First Samuel kind of the full

figure of characters on the stage. So David, this obscure shepherd, who has become

international celebrity for killing Goliath the giant, like overnight with no media training

whatsoever. He's got to figure this out. Saul is the king of Israel. We had a good

run-up on Saul before David ever came into the picture to understand that Saul is a very insecure,

a very performance-driven, image-driven person.

That is his identity, how he's perceived to be, not as he actually is.

So David coming onto the scene and just by default being a threat,

that is not so good for a temperament personality type like Saul. And it doesn't take long for that, uh, begin to come to the surface. So let's

jump in. First Samuel chapter 18, verse 5 through 19, verse 24 today.

David went out wherever Saul sent him and he was successful.
