Hello and Chicken Saints. We are back for more scriptures in the Doctor in Covenants.

And I couldn't be happier because we're barely getting off the ground, and yet it's incredible to see where we're headed from here.

As we saw in the first couple of weeks, we're just beginning with this tiny little nuclear family.

Joseph Smith, brothers, sisters, mom, dad, coalescing around these incredible revelations that are coming his way.

Now, from there, we meet Martin Harris.

And last week was Martin Harris, for the most part,

with a little bit of Joseph Smith Sr. in the middle.

This week, we get Oliver Cowdery with a little bit of John the Beloved in the middle.

But it's amazing to me that family and then,

oh, a neighbor friend, prosperous farmer, then somebody comes into town and starts boarding with

the Smith family, hearing the story from the family of what's been going on. And meanwhile,

Joseph Smith himself is now in Harmony, Pennsylvania.

It's been so much, remember we talked about persecution, opposition?

It's been mounting in Palmyra, to the point that just to get the job done, to be able to focus

on the plates and the translation of the Book of Mormon, Joseph's got to get out of town.

And so he goes to his in-laws.

I mean, this doesn't apply to me because I love my in-laws,

but you know it's rough when you'd rather go live with your in-laws, okay, when that's the

best option that you've got, okay? And that's exactly what Joseph has to do. So he's down in

Harmony, Pennsylvania. Oliver Cowdery moves in with his parents to be able to do some

school teaching. That's usually how school teachers ran things back in the day. And he's hearing the

story and is so moved by it, I've got to be a part of this. He's praying. He's getting answers.
