In the 1970s, Cynthia was a young newly married copywriter living in New Jersey and working in Manhattan.

One night coming home from work, she missed her train.

So she decided to call her husband and let him know that she would be late.

In those days, pre-Sell-phone, making a phone call required a phone booth.

tall, very scary-looking men. I don't know what these people would have done. Maybe they were there just simply to scare me. All I can say is it was obvious that the intent was to absolutely obliterate me from the view of anyone else.

It was such a shock. I'm not usually frightened of situations, but I was legitimately frightened. And just as I'm looking at these people and thinking what in the world am I going to do
