We don't think of the Christmas season as a spooky time,

even though one of our most beloved Christmas tales is really a ghost story.

It's a ghost who visits the greedy, cruel businessman Ebenezer Scrooge one Christmas Eve. Scrooge's

former partner, Jacob Marley, long dead and now spectral, draped in heavy chains, pleading

with Scrooge to change his selfish ways lest he too find himself condemned and lost for all eternity.

Scrooge doesn't want to hear it.

The prophets over people crowd are almost always deaf to any plea made to their humanity.
