First two years of life, so much of the core dispositions that are durable are established,

When the child is frightened,

its attachment seeking system switches on, and it is through all of the

priming that has been shaped by natural selection.

The impulse is to connect with a caregiver

The attachment seeking system switches on and the child turns towards a caregiver for security and then when needs are met,

then the attachment system switches off and the child's exploration system switches on and the child returns to the world with confidence and resilience.
