Anybody grew up in a church that did not celebrate Ascension Sunday?

Because you didn't know what the church calendar was. Yeah, a few of you. You had calendars with like puppy dogs on it and crosses, but you didn't have a church calendar. I was that way growing up, we were like, Ascension Sunday. What is that? I probably could have figured out if I thought about it for a little bit. but today is Ascension Sunday where Michael Stard us,

it really is the day where the church comes together

to remember that Jesus not only died and rose again, but he walked around for like 40 days before he ascended into heaven. If you want to read it on your own, it's Acts chapter 1, where he gathers his disciples together and they're like, hey, is this the time? Is this the time that we get to dominate and take over? is this the time we are ruling reign? And he's like, it's not up to you to know all these things, but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and you'll be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Jdea, and Samaria. My rule and reign is going to look so much different than you think it's going to look. And then he ascends into heaven and his disciples stay on earth.

And he takes his rightful place as King Jesus, king over everything, king over you, king over Israel, king over all.

And he's there.

And what he leaves behind is his disciples, which is a hilarious thought for me because I go in this, I'm supervisual, so I'm like, what did that look like? That's got to be crazy. I'm like, think it's awesome when I see two geese walking around beside each other. I see ascending into heaven. Like, I can't even imagine what that looks like. But I was thinking about the day, I'm like, when he has spent three years doing all that he did with his disciples, when he is ascending into heaven in my mind, if he's not sovereign, he's looking down and being like, oh, I hope they got it. Like, you got Peter there and you're like, he's going to find Matthew, you know, like, he's doing all the thing. And you're like, I wonder if he's, in my mind, I think he's like, did I do enough? And the disciples are watching him, they're like, yes, the Holy Spirit's going.

Where are you going?

Like, you know, like where are you going?

Like, it's like an elevator up. You're like, okay, we're in charge? I feel that all the time. Like, where are the adults in the room? You're like, that's me. Okay, we can do this. I just wonder what it's like when there's this separation.

I know He promises the Holy Spirit, and they're going to get that, but like there's this separation. I know He promises the Holy Spirit and they're gonna get that,

but like there's this separation I'm leaving,

which got me thinking about a few weeks ago

when I was walking around Homewood, Alabama,

just for a little bit of a walk during the workday.

It got me thinking about this story

and I started thinking, huh, I'm going to leave this earth

someday and well, I leave behind. Jesus left the disciples. What am I going to leave behind? And honestly,

here's where my mind went. My mind went to, I don't know if Courtney knows where all the like accounts

are and all the passwords. Like I don't know if she knows where all the accounts are and all the passwords.

Like, I don't know if she knows them all. Like, I don't, who's going to mow the yard?
