He published a book that I completed this morning, excellent book. And I lived in Northern California, so I was somewhat familiar with a lot of the events. Let me turn that off.

Anyway, the title of the book is Colt City, Jim Jones, Harvey Milk in the Ten Days That Chuck San Francisco.

Daniel J. Flynn is a senior editor of the American Spectator.

He's also written other books.

He published The War on Football in 2013, Blue Collar Intellectuals 2011,

a conservative history of the American Left, 2008.

Intellectual Morons, 2004, and Why the Left Hates America, 2002.

His articles have appeared in Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe, New York Post, City Journal, and National Review.

So he's definitely still writing.

But I'm delighted to have him on the show because it was an excellent book,

and it really opened up this fascinating series of events that took place in 1978 in San Francisco. So Mr. Flynn, are you there?

I am. Thank you for having me. Awesome. Well, thanks for agreeing to the interview. For people who may not

have heard your name or aren't familiar with your work, can you talk a little bit about your

journalism career and what led you to write this book, Colt City?

Well, I think the second question is a little easier.

You know, when I was a little boy, I didn't grow up in Northern California, but when I was about five years old,

I heard about what had happened at Jonestown, that there were a number of people that killed themselves at the request of
