Welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast where we are reading the entire Gospels this school year.

We're about halfway done.

Today is day 97.

We're in the Gospel of Mark, and today we are reading chapter 15

verses 16 through 32. In this section, we will hear Jesus carrying his cross. Now, I'm reading from

the New American translation of the Bible. I encourage you to follow along and take notes.

But before we dive in, as always,

please join me in prayer. In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit and they shall be created and you will renew the face of the earth. Amen. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the

Holy Spirit, amen. A reading from the Holy Gospel of Mark chapter 15 verses 16 through 32 the soldiers led him away into the palace that is

the petorium and assembled the whole cohort they clothed him and purple and weaving a crown of

thorns placed it on him they began to salute him him with hail, King of the Jews, and kept striking

his head with a reed and spitting on him. They knelt before him in homage. And when they had mocked him,

they stripped him of the purple cloak, dressed him in his own clothes, and let him out to crucify him.

They pressed into service a passer-by, Simon, a Cyrenian, who was coming in from the country,

the father of Alexander and Rufus to carry the cross.

They brought him to the place of Golgotha, which is translated Place of the Skull.
