Hey there, welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast where we are reading the Gospels this school year.

Today is day 91 of this journey.

We are in the gospel of Mark.

And today we are reading chapter 14, verses 1 through 16,

where we will read about one of the saddest things that happen in the gospel, Judas betraying

Jesus. I'm reading from the New American translation of the Bible. I encourage you to follow

along,

but before we dive in, let's pray. In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

amen. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit, and they shall be created

and you will renew the face of the earth. Amen. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the

Holy Spirit, amen. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark chapter 14 verses 1 through 16 the Passover and the

feast of unleavened bread were to take place in two days time so the chief priests and the scribes

were seeking a way to arrest him by treachery and put him to death.

They said, not during the festival for fear that there may be a riot among the people.

When he was in Bethany, reclining at table in the house of Simon the leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of perfumed oil, costly, genuine spike nard.

She broke the alabaster jar and poured it on his head.

There were some who were indignant.

Why has there been this waste of perfumed oil?
