Hey, Sprouts, welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast, where we are reading the Gospels this school year.

Today is day 86 of this journey.

We are on the gospel of Mark, reading chapter 12, verses 1 through 12, where we will hear the

story of the parable of the tenants. I'm reading from the New American translation of the Bible,

but before we begin, let's pray. In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

amen. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit and they shall be created.

And you will renew the face of the earth.

Amen.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark chapter 12 verses 1 through 12.

He began to speak to them in parables. A man planted a vineyard, put a hedge around it, dug a wine

press, and built a tower. Then he leased it to tenant farmers and left on a journey. At the proper

time he sent a servant to the tenants to obtain from them some of the produce of the vineyard.

But they seized him, beat him, and sent him away empty-handed.

Again, he sent another servant, and that one they beat over the head and treated shamefully.

He sent yet another whom they killed. So too many others. Some they beat, others they killed. He had one other

to send, a beloved son. He sent him to them last of all, thinking, they will respect my son.

But those tenants said to one another, This is the heir.
