Welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast where we are reading the Gospels this school year.

Today is day 82 of this journey.

We are in the Gospel of Mark,

reading from chapter 10, verses 17 through 31, where we will hear Jesus converse with a rich man. Now, I am reading from the new American translation of the

Bible. I encourage you to follow along, take notes, and of course, begin with prayer. In the name of the Father,

and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful,

and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your spirit, and they shall be created created and you will renew the face of the earth.

Amen. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. A reading from the

gospel according to Mark, chapter 10, verses 17 through 31.

As he was setting out on a journey, a man ran up, knelt down before him and asked him,

Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?

Jesus answered him, why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone.

You know the commandments. You shall not kill. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal.

You shall not bear false witness. You shall not defraud. Honor your mother and your father. He replied and said to him,

Teacher, all of these things I have observed from my youth. Jesus, looking at him, loved him,

and said to him, you are lacking in one thing. Go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will

have treasure in heaven. Then, come follow me. At that statement, his face fell, and he went away
