Today is Day 75.

We are reading the gospel of Mark, specifically chapter 8, verses 1 through 13.

In this, we will hear the story of Jesus feeding the 4,000.

Today, as always, I'm reading from the New American Translation of the Bible.

And I ask you once again to join me in prayer so that we open our hearts to God's word, which is alive and active. In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen. Come, Holy Spirit,

fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your

spirit and they shall be created and you will renew the face of the earth.

Amen.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark, chapter 8, verses 1 through 13.

In those days, when there again was a great crowd without anything to eat, he summoned the disciples and said,

My heart is moved with pity for the crowd, because they have been with me now for three days and have nothing to eat.

If I send them away hungry to their homes, they will collapse on the way, and some of them have come a great distance.

His disciples answered him, where can anyone get enough bread to satisfy them here in this deserted place?

Still, he asked them,

How many loaves do you have? Seven, they replied. He ordered the crowd to sit down on the ground. Then taking the seven loaves, he gave thanks, broke them, and gave them to his disciples

to distribute, and they distributed them to the crowd.

He also had a few fish. He said the blessing over them and ordered them distributed also.
