Welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast as we work our way through the Gospels this school year.

Today is day 22.

We are in the Gospel of Matthew and we'll be reading chapter 11 together.

In this chapter, we will hear messengers from John come and question Jesus and his apostles.

Today I'm reading from the New American Translation of the Bible. I encourage you to follow along and take notes as you listen. Now remember, my friends, that God's word is alive and active. So let's pray

together that our hearts can be open to receive God's Holy Word. In the name of the Father and

of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. Come, Holy Spirit,

fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your

spirit and they shall be created and you will renew the face of the earth. Amen.

A reading from the Gospel according to Matthew, chapter 11, verses 1 through 30.

The Messengers from John the Baptist. When John heard in prison of the works of the Messiah, he sent his disciples to him with this question.

Are you the one who is to come?

Or should we look for another?

Jesus said to them in reply,

Go and tell John what you hear and see. The blind regain

their sight. The lame walk. Leopers are cleansed. The deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor

have the good news proclaimed to them. And blessed is the one who does not take offense at me.
