Welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast.

This year, we are working our way through the Gospels, and today is day 21.

We are reading from the Gospel of Matthew, the entire chapter of chapter 10, which is verses 1 through 42. Now, among other things in this passage, you will hear Jesus spell

out the mission of the 12. I'm reading from the New American Translation of the Bible, and I encourage you to

follow along in your own Bible and take notes as you listen. Remember, my friends, that God's

holy word is alive and active. So let's pray together that we may receive his unique message for us today in the name of the

father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen come holy spirit fill the hearts of your

faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love send forth your spirit and they shall be created and you will renew the face of your love. Send forth your spirit and they shall be created and you will renew

the face of the earth. Amen. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, amen.

A reading from the Gospel of Matthew chapter 10, verses 1 through 42.

Then he summoned his 12 disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits

to drive them out and to cure every disease and every illness.

The names of the 12 apostles were these.

First, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew.

James, the son of Zebedee and his brother John.

Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas, and Matthew the tax collector.

James, the son of Elfius, and Thaddeus, Simon the Canaan, and Judas Ascariot, who would betray him.

Jesus sent out these 12 after instructing them thus, do not go into pagan territory or enter a Samaritan town.
