Hey, Sprouts, welcome back to our journey through the Gospels this school year.

Today is day 188 of this journey.

We are in the Gospel of John, today reading chapter 16, verses 5 through 33, where Jesus, still at the last supper, will share with his apostles about his departure, but the coming of the advocate, the Holy Spirit.

I'm reading from the New American translation of the Bible.

I encourage you to follow along or take notes. But before we dive in, let's pray. In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit and they shall be created

and you will renew the face of the earth. Amen. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the

Holy Spirit, amen. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John, chapter 16 verses 5 through 33.

I did not tell you this from the beginning because I was with you, but now I am going to the one who sent me,

and not one of you asks, where are you going? But because I told you this, grief has filled your hearts. But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go. For if I do not go, the advocate will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world in regard to sin and

righteousness and condemnation. Sin, because they did not believe in me. Righteousness, because I am going

to the Father, and you will no longer see me. Condemnation, because the ruler of this world has been condemned. I have much more

to tell you, but cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the spirit of truth, he will guide you

to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears and will declare to you the things that

are coming. He will glorify me because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.

Everything that the father has is mine. For this reason, I told you that he will take from what is

mine and declare it to you. A little while and you will no

longer see me. And again, a little while later, you will see me. So some of his disciples said to one
