Welcome back to our reading of the Gospels this school year.

We are on day 174 of this journey, reading from the Gospel of John.

Today, chapter 9, 1 through 40, where we are going to hear a longer section of scripture that tells the story of the healing of the man born blind

I'm reading from the new American translation of the gospel but before we dive in let's pray

in the name of the father and of the son and of the gospel, but before we dive in, let's pray. In the name of the Father and of the Son,

and of the Holy Spirit, amen. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them

the fire of your love. Send forth your spirit, and they shall be created, and you will renew the face of the earth amen in the name of the

father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen a reading from the holy gospel according to john

chapter nine verses one through 40 as he passed by he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him,

Rabbi, who sinned? This man or his parents that he was born blind? Jesus answered,

Neither he nor his parents sinned. It is so that the works of God might be made visible through him.

We have to do the work of one who sent me well it is day. Night is coming when no one can work.

Well, I am in the world. I am the light of the world. When he had said this, he spat on the ground and made clay

with saliva and smeared the clay on his eyes and said to him, go wash in the pool of Salome,

which meant send. So he went and washed and came back able to see. His neighbors and those who had

seen him earlier as a beggar said,

isn't this the one who used to sit and beg? Some said it is, but others said, no, he just looks

like him. He said, I am. So they said to him, so how were your eyes opened? He replied, the man called Jesus made clay and
