Hey, welcome back to the Catholic Sprouts podcast, where we are reading the Gospels this school year.

Today is day 137 of this journey.

We are in the Gospel of Luke, and today we are reading chapter 17, verses 22 through 37.

In here, Jesus will talk about the day of the Son of Man. As always, I am reading from the new American translation of the Bible, but before we dive in, let's pray. In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

amen. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created, and you will renew the face of the earth. Amen.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke, chapter 17, verses 22 through 37.

Then he said to his disciples, the days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the

son of man, but you will not see it. There will be those who will say to you, look, there he is,

or look, here he is. Do not go off, do not run in pursuit. For just as lightning flashes

and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the son of man be in his day. But first,

he must suffer greatly and be rejected by this generation. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man.

They will be eating and drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage up to the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

Similarly, as it was in the days of Lott, they were eating,

drinking, buying, selling, planting, building. On the day when Lott left Sodom, fire and brimstone

rained down from the sky to destroy them all. So it will be on the day the son of man is revealed.

On that day, a person who is on the house top

and whose belongings are in the house
