Today is day 133 of this journey.

We are in the Gospel of Luke reading Chapter 15 today, all of it, and in chapter

15 we will hear the parable of the prodigal son. Now I'm reading from the new American

translation of the Bible, but before we dive in, let's pray. In the name of the Father and of the

Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit and they shall be created.

And you will renew the face of the earth.

Amen.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

A reading from the Holy Gospel of Luke chapter 15 verses 1 through 32.

The tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to listen to him, but the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying, this man welcomes sinners and eats with them.

So to them, he addressed this parable.

What man among you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, would not leave the 99 in the desert and go after the lost

one until he finds it. And when he does find it, he sets it on his shoulders with great joy. And upon his

arrival home, he calls together his friends and neighbors and says to them, rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.

I tell you, in just the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who

repents than over 99 righteous people who have no need of repentance.
