We are on day 123 of this adventure in the Gospel of Luke,

reading today chapter 9 verses 1 through 27. In this, we will hear Peter's bold confession about the identity of Jesus Christ. I'm reading from the New American

translation of the Bible, but before we begin, let's pray. In the name of the Father and of the Son,

and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit and they shall be created and you will renew the face of the earth.

Amen.

In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke, chapter 9, verses 1 through 27. He summoned the 12

and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the kingdom

of God and to heal the sick. He said to them, take nothing for the journey, neither walking

stick nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic. Whatever house

you enter, stay there and leave from there.

But as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them.

Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the good news and curing diseases everywhere.

Harrod the Tetriarch heard about all that was happening,

and he was greatly perplexed, because some were saying John has been raised from the dead.

Others were saying Elijah has appeared. Still others, one of the ancient prophets has arisen.
