Hey there, sprouts. Today is Tuesday, April 5th, 2022. Today is also the feast day of a very talented Dominican preacher named St. Vincent Ferver. Now, this week, we have been talking about the

sin of greed, which is when we love

money and things too much. Yesterday we talked about why this is bad and unhealthy for us, but today

we're going to talk about why greed is a sin. Now greed is a sin, because when we focus too much

on money and possessions, then we no longer look to God to provide for us.

We think, well, I can't really trust God because I need to provide for myself.

The things I can trust are a job that brings me a lot of money, a big bank

count, a nice house, a nice car. That's what helps me be confident that I'll be okay, not God.

And so, of course, that attitude is terribly sinful. And it's also very, very wrong.

The moment that we start to believe that we created everything, that we have gotten everything

for ourselves, were very wrong.

Everything we have is a gift from God.

Our intelligence so that we have a good job is a gift from God. The family that we were

born into that provides for us, that is a gift from God. So everything we have is from him.

And so when we hold on to our money or our possessions with tight hands, when we worry about it so much and think about it and spend all of our energy getting more, we're not remembering that everything we have is a gift from God.

We're acting as if we need to take care of things ourselves.

The greatest sin, we already talked about this with the sin of pride,

is when we forget that God is there. When we forget that He is our father who wants to take

care of us, we tell him we don't need his help and we try to take care of things ourselves. And that

is what we do with greed. Greed also, when we become very
