| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:23.6 | Hey there, Sprouts. |
| 0:27.3 | Today is Thursday, March 24th, 2020. |
| 0:34.5 | This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are continuing our series investigating the seven deadly sins. |
| 0:40.2 | This week, we're talking about gluttony, which is the sinful overindulgence in food or drink, or simply thinking too much about food and drink all the time. We talked about |
| 0:45.6 | how Jesus spoke from the cross, the words, I thirst, and how what he thirst for is our love, |
| 0:59.1 | our attention, our devotion, so that he can flood our life with his grace. |
| 1:10.4 | So today, we are going to look even closer at the way that Jesus wants to quench our thirst, to stop those hunger pains. And like we talked about already, we have two parts of who we are. |
| 1:15.2 | We have our body and our soul. And these things are, they're permanently linked. They make who we are. |
| 1:21.4 | We understand our body through our soul and we understand our soul through our body. |
| 1:26.5 | Gluttony asks us to focus only on the needs |
| 1:29.4 | of our body, to focus only on food. Jesus asks us to focus on the nourishment, the health |
| 1:37.3 | of our soul as well. And because of this, Jesus has given us the perfect food and the perfect drink, something that actually will give our body's nourishment, but in a way more profound sense, it will feed our souls. |
| 1:59.2 | Now, what I'm talking about, of course, is the Holy Eucharist. |
| 2:04.4 | See, what's so beautiful is that since Jesus and God, since they created us, they understand |
| 2:10.3 | how we are. |
| 2:11.6 | They understand that we can't just focus on our body. |
| 2:14.5 | We can't just focus on our soul. |
| 2:17.4 | We need to focus on both. We need to make |
| 2:19.9 | sure both are healthy and fed. And so that is what the Eucharist is. Jesus comes and utterly |
| 2:30.0 | transforms bread and wine. Even though we can't see that or feel that, we know it is true, |
| 2:36.7 | that it is no longer bread and wine. It is him, his body, and his blood. Now through this, |
