| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:29.8 | Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Two-Troules. Today is Tuesday, March 22nd, 2022. This week on the Catholic Spouts podcast, we are talking about the slin of gluttony. And gluttony is when we focus too much |
| 0:35.5 | on what we are going to eat and drink. |
| 0:38.3 | Maybe we're eating too much, eating at the wrong time, or just simply too focused on it. |
| 0:43.6 | Yesterday we heard the story of the rich man and Lazarus, and today we're going to just dive a little |
| 0:49.5 | bit deeper into this to understand why this is such a sin and why it affects our lives so much. |
| 0:57.1 | So to start, we need to remember that we are made of two pieces, two very important pieces |
| 1:02.2 | that are super connected and really, really become our whole person. They become all of us, |

| 1:18.4 | is our soul, that eternal part of us, our mind, our personality. So we have these two pieces. |
| 1:32.9 | And so when we give into the sin of gluttony, very often we are so much more concerned about our body than we are about our soul. Now, these two pieces of us |
| 1:43.3 | need to be taken care of. |
| 1:45.2 | We need to take care of both. |
| 1:46.9 | And we need to make sure that one does not become the slave of the other. |
| 1:53.1 | So, for example, if a person is living a sinful life and is way too focused on food, then they can be just obsessed about what kinds of food |
| 2:05.0 | they eat, what time they eat it, the type of exercise that their body gets, that can be the |
| 2:10.5 | whole focus of their mind. And then also at the same time, they're not taking care of their soul. |
| 2:18.5 | They're not spending any time with God because just as our body gets nourishment from the food that we eat, |
| 2:26.1 | our soul gets nourishment from direct contact with God. |
| 2:31.8 | And if we are never praying, never exposing ourselves to the Holy Eucharist, |
| 2:36.8 | never speaking about Jesus with other people, then essentially our soul is starving. Our soul is |
