Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Monday, March 7th, 2020. Today is also the feast days of St.

Perpetua and St. Felicity. Now, St. Felicity and Perpetua were early Christian martyrs in northern Africa. What's interesting about them is that Perpetua was a Roman person of nobility. She was married and she had a tiny baby. And Felicity was a slave and she was pregnant. Both women were catechumans, which means that they were studying to be baptized when it was discovered that they were Christian.

And even though their lives were on the line, they asked to be fully received into the church through the sacrament of baptism.

They went to jail.

Perpetia was able to bring her little baby with her because she was still nursing that baby. And it was in jail,

the Felicity gave birth to her child. Shortly after Felicity gave birth, they were sent into the

arena where they were martyred by wild animals and gladiators. But we remember these two women because

they showed us just how valuable our faith is, that we should be willing to put everything, everything to the side so that we can follow Jesus. St. Perpetua and Felicity pray for us.

Now this week on the Catholic Spouts podcast, we are continuing our series looking at the seven deadly sins.

Last week, we started by looking at anger.

This week, we are moving on to envy.

Now, envy is unlike anger.

Anger, we talked about like you can have just anger. In fact, there are certain

things that you should get angry about. Unfortunately, envy is always bad, toxic. So what is envy?

Well, we can also use the word jealousy. Envy is a little bit of a bigger word. When we say envy,

we mean that when someone else has something really good happened to them, like they get a great

score on a spelling test, or they have a great performance in an athletic game, instead of feeling

happy for them, we feel sad for ourselves.

And V is also when something bad happens to someone else, like they bomb a test or they miss an

important goal in a game, we feel happy. So it's this having these rotten feelings, being happy when someone else has pain

or being sad when someone else has victory. Now, why do we feel these ways, right? That doesn't make any
