Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Tuesday, March 1st, 2022. Today is also the day before Lent begins. So we call today Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras in French. And so historically, this has been the day where people

celebrate or have that extra piece of cake or dessert because we know that the long fast of

Lent is coming. And so I encourage you to celebrate a little today before we enter into Lent.

And also,

even more importantly than that, spent some time today really evaluating and praying what

God is calling you to do during Lent. Last week, we talked about fasting, about giving up

some sort of pleasurable thing, whether it's food or entertainment.

So I hope that you remember what we talked about last week and really do make those commitments, not only to fast, but also to increase your prayer and to think of some ways

that you can give alms or give what you have, whether it's your money or your time,

to those people that are in need.

Those are the three areas that we are called to really focus during Lent, fasting, prayer, and

almsgiving.

Now, this week on the Catholic Spouts podcast, we are starting our series on the seven deadly sins,

and we are talking about anger.

Yesterday we talked about how anger could actually be good sometimes.

If we're responding to something really terrible happening in the world or someone insulting

God or hurting a person, those are all bad things, and we should have a reaction of anger. However, when

that anger becomes bigger than it should, when it lasts a long time, or when we start to just

feel hatred toward a person or a group of people that's not even caused by something,

then we have crossed over into sin. And so when you think about hatred,
