Hey there, Spouse.

0:27.9

Today is Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022.

0:33.1

Today is also the feast day of the chair of St. Peter.

0:37.2

Yes, there is a chair that has a feast day. Now, today we celebrate the very first Mass that Peter, our very first Pope, said in Rome. Now remember, Peter, of course, was born in Galilee. He was a fisherman. He was commissioned by Christ to be the leader of the church.

0:57.5

He traveled around. He preached in Jerusalem. Eventually, he felt called to go to Rome, and he felt

1:48.3

But today we celebrate the first mass in Rome,

1:51.5

which continues to be the center of our church,

1:53.2

where the Pope lives today.

1:55.4

Now, this week on Catholic Spouts,

1:59.4

we are talking about fasting in preparation for Lent.

2:06.1

Yesterday, we talked about how fasting is saying no or limiting some sort of sensory pleasure, usually food and drink or entertainment.

2:11.4

So the first reason why fasting is good, we talked about yesterday, and that's because

2:16.0

it reminds us of all of those people in the

2:18.7

world that do go to bed hungry. If we feel hunger, we can become more compassionate toward them
