Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Thursday, February 10th, 2020. Today is also the feast day of St. Scholastica.

Now, St. Scholastica lived in the 500s, and she was the twin sister of St. Benedict. In her own right, she founded a monastery for women, and she remained very close to her brother, St. Dominic, who established a

rule of life that is still used by many religious, that split the day into three parts between

work, prayer, and rest.

The Feastay of St. Scholastic is a great opportunity to pray for your siblings,

because here we have two siblings that both did great work for Jesus and both became saints.

So if you're with your sibling, look at them and say, hey, we can both be saints.

And I hope you both are.

Now today we are picking up our work

on looking at the whole armor of God

as we prepare for Sir Roland to join us on Saturdays

at the Catholic Sprouts podcast.

We've already talked about the belt of truth, which is Jesus Christ,

the breastplate of righteousness, which is how God's laws will protect our heart from Satan's

attack, the shoes that will enable us to travel into uncomfortable places to proclaim the gospel,

the shield of faith, which is trust in Jesus

that will deflect any arrow the devil shoots at us. And today we are going to look at this last

verse 17 for the final two pieces of this whole armor. St. Paul writes, take up the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the

word of God. So how is salvation like a helmet? First of all, salvation, this means that we are

saved, that God has come, he has saved us, that we did not

earn this. It is a gift. Salvation is a gift. So how is that like a helmet? Well, think about
