Hi there, Sprouts. Today is Thursday, February 3, 2022, the Feast of St. Blaze.

My name is Sister Sidney Moss, and I am a daughter of Mary Help of Christians. This week we're talking about vocations, and before we continue, I want to say a little

bit about St. Blaze. Some of you may have gotten your throats blessed this morning at Mass.

St. Blaze was a bishop and martyr in the early 4th century. That would be the 300s. When he was

arrested and led away to prison, the story goes that a woman

brought her son who was choking on a fishbone to him, and he cured him. And because of that,

we ask for his intercession for protection against all diseases of the throat. So if you have a chance

to get your throat blessed today,

make sure you do it and pray in Thanksgiving to St. Blaze for his example of the faith

and his willingness to be martyred for it. This week we're talking about vocations, God's call.

And today I want to share a really important part about discerning your vocation.

You need to have somebody who can accompany you, someone who can walk with you and help you to

discover what God is calling you to do. We have a very special saint in our Salesian family, whose name is

Saint Dominic Savio. Some of you may have heard of him before. He was only 14 years old when he died,

but he lived an amazing life of holiness. He was born in northern Italy in 1842, and when he was only seven years old,

he made his first communion. That was not normal during that time. Most children made their

first communion at the age of 12, but the priest saw how holy Dominic was and allowed him to make his first communion at the age of seven.

Dominic made four promises that day.

He said that he would go to confession and the Eucharist as often as he could.

He would make Sundays and feast days very special.

He would make Jesus and Mary his best friends,
