You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith.

0:30.0

Hey there, Spouse. Today is Thursday, October 14th, 2021. This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are talking about why Catholicism is so good. And one of the reasons why it's so good

0:36.5

is because it built modern society. We spent the last

0:40.1

two days talking about how Christianity is the reason why we have modern science. Christianity

0:47.3

told the world that nature is not God itself, but nature is something created by God for us, and studying nature allows us to know God better.

0:59.0

And there are so many scientists, important scientists, who came up with ideas and concepts that are still used today that were not only Catholic, but were Catholic priests.

1:11.6

Now, today we are going to turn our focus to charity.

1:15.8

The Catholic Church is so good because due to the principles of Christianity, we have our modern

1:23.9

system of charity.

1:27.1

Now, by charity, we mean loving those that are most in need.

1:33.2

Before Christianity, it was not really seen as a necessary thing to take care of those that

1:40.8

were in need. Perhaps rich people in Roman society or Greek society will give to the

1:48.0

poor, but they only did this for their own glory, for their own importance. There was certainly no

1:55.1

societal idea that it was a good thing to take care of the poor.

2:07.5

Now that might be surprising because it is such a concept in the world we live in today, right? That it is good to care for the poor, that it is good to give the money you can to care for

2:12.6

those that are homeless, are hungry.

2:15.5

But that is a Christian idea. If Christianity had not flooded the world,

2:22.8

that's not a concept that would exist. Now, to show you what I mean, we need to remember

2:29.9

that the Catholic Church, the Catholic Church around the world and throughout the ages, it is a fact that the Catholic Church, the Catholic Church around the world and throughout the ages,

2:36.0

it is a fact that the Catholic Church has fed more people, housed more people, and healed

2:43.1

more people than any other institution the world has ever seen.

2:50.7

This is true.
