| 0:49.4 | Today is Monday, September 13th, 2021. |
| 0:53.7 | Today is also the feast day of St. John Christendom. |
| 1:11.5 | Now, this week, we are going to continue on with the series that we started last week. And this series will take us through much of the school year. And we are going to be exploring defenses for our faith or reasons why we believe, why we are Catholic. |
| 1:17.5 | So since this is our first week of going through the defenses, we have to start at the very beginning. |
| 1:25.4 | And the very beginning is simply finding evidence that God exists. |
| 1:31.5 | Perhaps you know already that in this world, not everybody believes in God. |
| 1:39.7 | Some people believe that there is no God or there is no higher power at all. Many people have different beliefs, but we can know for certain that God exists. In the coming weeks, we will be talking |
| 1:48.9 | about religion and Jesus Christ and even the specifics of our Catholic faith. But this week, |
| 1:55.0 | we are staying just with this very first step, God. Now, the major reason why many people do not believe in God is because they |
| 2:04.6 | claim that there is no evidence that God exists. But this week, we are going to go through three |
| 2:12.3 | very important pieces of evidence for God's existence. But before we get there, we need to talk about |
| 2:20.8 | exactly how we prove that God exists. Now, if you know anything about lawyers or trials, |
| 2:30.2 | you know that evidence is usually like pieces of material, like maybe there are photographs or |
| 2:39.3 | fingerprints, right? Things that prove something to be so. And they usually are things that we can |
| 2:46.5 | touch or see or smell. Now when we look for evidence of God, it's going to be a little bit |
| 2:54.0 | different. Why? Well, because God is immaterial, right? We know that God doesn't exist in this world. |
| 3:04.4 | He's not made of stuff like we are. He doesn't even exist in time. So we can't really |
| 3:10.3 | take a picture of God or find a fingerprint of God. However, if we search inside of ourselves, |
| 3:18.4 | if we reflect on who we are and what this world is that we live in and experience, we are going to find three |
