You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith.

0:29.4

Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Wednesday, July 7th, 2021. This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are diving into the beatitudes, and we are talking about the first beatitude,

0:36.4

which is, blessed are the poor in spirit,

0:40.2

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

0:44.4

Now, yesterday we talked about detachment and how being truly poor in spirit means that

0:51.0

we remember always that everything we have, our lives, our wealth, our

0:57.4

possessions, even our friends and our family, all of those things were generously given to us by God.

1:04.8

We didn't earn them. He just cave them to us. And that therefore, in order to be blessed and happy, we need to be like God

1:13.4

1:26.7

talk about a lot on our journey toward holiness, which is called interior poverty.

1:47.4

world, they barely have enough money to eat every day. They cannot buy any fun possessions or toys or

1:56.3

games. They work hard all day. They spend the money that they make working so hard to barely have enough to eat.

2:05.1

And sometimes they don't have enough to eat.

2:08.9

So picture this person.

2:11.4

Now, this person, everything that they get, let's say there's some surprise and they are given enough money to go buy a hamburger

2:21.0

from McDonald's or they're given an afternoon off where they can go and enjoy beautiful

2:27.6

weather.

2:28.4

All of these things they would be so grateful for because they have nothing. Also, a person like this, they depend totally on God.

2:41.3

They know that whether they will have enough to eat, whether they will have a place to stay,
