Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Monday, July 5th, 2021.

Now, this week, sprouts, we are going to be just like the people that followed Jesus when he was alive.

We're going to be part of the crowd that followed him up the mountain, sat down around him, and listened to his amazing words.

We are going to listen to words that Christ spoke way back then that have been

recorded in the gospel and these important words we call the beatitudes. Now the beatitudes appear in a

couple of the gospels. We are going to be looking at the words recorded in the gospel according to Matthew,

and we were going to hear those words soon.

But in this section of the gospel, when Christ delivered this sermon on the mount all those years ago,

he talks about eight different ways that we can become blessed or other translations have said

happy. Each of the beatitude starts this way. Blessed are the. And we could also say happy

are the. So the beatitudes are a list of ways that we can be happy. And if we're going to be

honest, all of us approach Jesus, approach God, looking for happiness. We're hoping that God

can make us happy. But like everyone else, we come to God thinking that the things in the world,

that that is what will make us happy. Better food, more money, more time, more comfort. But in the

beatitudes, Christ says something totally different.

He doesn't talk about the rich being happy or the comfortable being happy.

Instead, he tells us that the poor, the meek, those who mourn,

that they are the ones who are blessed and they are the ones who are happy.

Now, simply, when we look at all eight of the beatitudes, what we get is we get a picture
