All week we have been talking about some incredible Eucharistic miracles as we prepare for the great feast of the most holy body and blood of Jesus on Sunday.

So far we have heard about the Eucharist turning back angry armies,

turning back tidal waves, parting rivers, surviving fires, turning back fires.

We have heard about hosts that have bled.

We have heard about the time when Christ's own face appeared on a Eucharistic host out of drops of blood.

Many beautiful things.

Now, another sort of category of Eucharistic miracles is when consecrated hosts have been taken or stolen from a church or a tabernacle and how they

have been miraculously protected and returned. Now, these are important stories because we are

reminded that the host, the little piece of bread before the consecration, it doesn't matter very much, right?

It's just a little piece of bread.

And it doesn't even really taste very good.

It's just sort of insignificant.

However, after the consecration prayer, after this has been transformed by God into the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus Christ, we know that it has infinite worth, that we should do all we can to protect, to honor, to venerate, to worship the host.

So there is a huge difference.

And God in His goodness has worked these miracles to help us fully understand the difference.

Who cares what happens to a little circle of bread?

But we care with all of our hearts and souls what happens to Christ who is present in a consecrated host.

So the first story comes from Siena, Italy, in the 1700s.
