| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:29.9 | Hey there, sprouts. Today is Friday, May 14th, 2021. All week we have been talking about the Ascension, which will be celebrating this Sunday. We talked about what happened, how Jesus now |
| 0:36.8 | reaching out to all people of all nations so that they might come into his family and be part of the church. |
| 0:44.5 | We also heard about the clouds, the clouds that we see in lots of stories, that this is the presence of God. |
| 0:52.6 | Now, before we go on, I'm going to go back to the Bible, |
| 0:57.4 | and we are going to read a little bit more of the passage from when Jesus ascended, |
| 1:03.0 | particularly we're going to wonder, well, what now? What do we do now that Jesus is back up in heaven? So once again, we're going to read |
| 1:13.8 | what happened, the moment of the ascension and then go on from there. When he had said this, |
| 1:20.4 | as they were looking on, he was lifted up and a cloud took him from their sight. Well, they were |
| 1:26.7 | looking intently at the sky as he was going. |
| 1:30.7 | Suddenly, two men dressed in white garments stood beside them. They said, men of Galilee, why are you |
| 1:38.7 | standing there looking at the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will return in the same way |
| 1:47.8 | as you have seen him going into heaven. So that is from the Book of Acts. So let's talk about this a little |
| 1:56.7 | bit. And this is probably what I would do if I was at the ascension. Jesus has just spoken to you. |
| 2:02.5 | Suddenly a cloud wraps around him and he goes up into heaven. What would you do? You probably |
| 2:08.5 | stand there with your mouth hanging open, staring after him. Wow. But then these men appear from nowhere. And if you were a Jew, you would understand that because they're |
| 2:24.2 | described as wearing white in white garments, now that's weird, if you can imagine a time before |
| 2:30.8 | washing machines and bleach, you wouldn't wear white because it wouldn't stay white |
| 2:35.5 | very long. So people wearing white were understood immediately to be from heaven. This is why when |
| 2:42.8 | Jesus said the Transfiguration is in white, they automatically know, oh, he's from heaven, he's God. |
| 2:50.0 | So here again, we have heavenly figures, |
| 2:53.0 | probably angels, and they're there saying, why are you staring into the sky? Why are you standing |
