You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith.

Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Friday, April 9th, 2021. We are, of course, still in the octave of Easter.

0:41.2

And before we dive in today, I want to remind you of something. We celebrate Easter for eight days. So that means that the final day of the octave is this coming Sunday. And like all good parties, they don't

0:49.0

pitter out at the end. The last part of the party is the biggest, most important part. So the biggest

0:56.8

celebration of Easter is actually this coming Sunday. And this coming Sunday has a special

1:03.3

name. We call it Divine Mercy Sunday. Please take advantage of Sunday. There are all sorts of incredible opportunities for

1:17.2

blessing and mercy, almost like a second baptism coming our way this Sunday. Take advantage of it,

1:25.8

go to confession, go to Mass. Pray the divine mercy

1:45.4

about their sins and feelings. He appeared. He offered them peace, forgiveness, and mercy. This is the

1:54.4

desire of our risen Lord. He conquered death, not so that we could be stuck there, but so that we could enter the full blessing of his mercy.

2:06.8

Come and receive, joyfully shake off those chains of sin and death and receive.

2:15.1

Now, all week we have been talking about Easter, we've talked about the personal

2:19.2

encounters that Christ had after the resurrection. We talked about Mary Magdalene, doubting

2:25.3

Thomas, Cleophis, and the Road to Emmaus. And today, we are talking about our first pope,

2:32.6

our first holy father, the rock, Peter. Now, the encounter with

2:39.1

Peter is a little bit gut-wrenching. So let's talk about what happens. So of course, the apostles,

2:45.7

they have seen the risen Lord, but they're not quite sure what to do. So in moments where you don't know what to do,

2:52.4

oftentimes you just start doing what you're used to doing, what's comfortable. So Peter and a few

2:58.8

others, they go back to fishing. This is what they did before they met Christ. This is how they
