| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:37.0 | Hey there, sprouts. Today is Friday, April 2, 2021. Today is also Good Friday, the day that we commemorate the crucifixion and death of our Lord Jesus Christ. |
| 0:40.7 | Now all week we have been talking about the events that took place during the final day of Jesus' earthly life. |
| 0:44.5 | Of course, in the Jewish understanding, the day began at sunset. |
| 0:48.6 | So first we had the Last Supper where Jesus instituted the Eucharist |
| 0:52.6 | and washed the feet of his disciples. Then, later that |
| 0:56.2 | night, the agony in the garden, the arrest, and the trial before the high priest. Next, we talked |
| 1:03.6 | about the events of the early morning, which is when Jesus was brought to Pilate and later on |
| 1:08.5 | when he stood before Herod, and finally when he was condemned |
| 1:12.3 | to be crucified. Yesterday we talked about the crucifixion and the way of the cross, and today |
| 1:18.7 | we will talk about the death of our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that the death of Jesus |

| 1:38.5 | the gospel John, that although he ran away, he seems to have returned during the moment of crucifixion, |
| 1:45.1 | and he stood there with Jesus' mother. |
| 1:49.5 | And they were weeping, but they were with Christ. |
| 1:52.5 | And we have some of the words that Christ spoke while he hung on the cross and died. |
| 1:59.1 | And we're going to talk about these words and what they mean for us |
| 2:03.9 | even now today. So the first words that Christ spoke, he said, my God, my God, why have you |
| 2:13.2 | forsaken me? Now those words are kind of hard to hear, to hear the anguish that Christ felt. |
| 2:21.7 | But what you might not realize is that those words are the first words of a psalm, of a much |
| 2:28.9 | longer psalm. And Christ would have grown up praying and reading the Psalms. He probably had them |
