Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Wednesday, March 10th, 2021. Today is also the feast day of one of my personal favorite saints, St. Dominic Savio. So, St. Dominic Savio did not live that long ago, and what's remarkable about him is that, yes, he is a saint, but he didn't live very long. In fact, he was still just a schoolboy when he died, and yet his remarkable life that he lived in those short years was enough for him to be canonized a full saint in the Catholic Church. Now, there are many

0:57.3

remarkable things that we could talk about with St. Dominic Savio, but my favorite story of him

1:02.7

comes from when he was in school. So when he was a schoolboy, he was very friendly. He loved all the

1:10.1

other little boys that were in his class,

1:12.3

and he tried very hard to challenge them to become a saint. In fact, he would oftentimes

1:17.2

give speeches in class about his desire and his desire for everyone to be a saint. He also

1:24.6

did not shy away from suffering because he saw that suffering would allow him to understand Jesus Christ even better.

1:33.8

So my favorite story actually occurred when two of his friends, two other little boys, got into a terrible fight.

1:40.2

They hated each other.

1:41.6

And they hated each other so much that they decided that when

1:44.9

school was over, they were going to leave school so they didn't get in trouble. They were going to

1:49.0

go out into a field and find rocks. And they were going to have a fight where they just slammed

1:52.9

each other with rocks because they hated each other so much. Now, Dominic knew that if he told

1:58.7

the teacher, the only thing that would happen is that these boys would sneak and they would just do it later and probably it would be more dangerous and they probably wouldn't even let Dominic come and be a voice of reason and protect them.

2:12.0

So he said, okay, I won't tell anybody that you're going to have this rock fight.

2:16.6

But you have to let me come.

2:18.2

And when I come, you have to agree to the one rule that I have.

2:23.9

And I'll tell you that one rule when we get there.

2:26.6

So the boys agreed.

2:28.1

And eventually got to the point where they're out in the field and they're gathering big piles of rocks.

2:33.4

And Dominic even helps them gather their big piles of rocks, and Dominic even helps them
