| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:30.0 | Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Thursday, February 25th, 2021. This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are talking about the Daily Examined, which is a spiritual exercise created by St. Ignatius of Leola 500 years ago. We do this because we know |
| 0:42.3 | the simply experiencing something is oftentimes not enough for us to truly learn from it. |
| 0:48.4 | We need to find quiet and reflect upon those things. We have talked about the first two steps of the daily examine, |
| 0:56.6 | which are being aware that you are in God's presence by becoming silent and focusing on what |
| 1:02.9 | is happening right now. And step number two, reviewing our day with gratitude. Now, we are |
| 1:09.6 | going to talk about steps number three and number four today. |
| 1:14.1 | So step number three is to think through your day and target maybe three areas where you truly |
| 1:22.7 | and undeniably experienced love. Now, why is this so important? The first time I did the daily exam |
| 1:31.5 | and I wondered, I said, well, you know, I'm thankful for those people I love. So I already sort of |
| 1:36.9 | listed them as things that I'm thankful for. Why am I doing this step again? Well, it is an |
| 1:43.4 | important reason. The reason why we're doing this again, |
| 1:46.4 | where we're taking time to once again look through our day for the love that we experienced, |
| 1:52.1 | is because of this simple truth we know about God. God is love. God is love. Now God himself, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, |
| 2:08.9 | the Trinity, it is a great mystery. It is more than our little brains will ever be able to |
| 2:15.4 | fully process. And yet we have this truth. God is love. |
| 2:21.2 | Therefore, when we look through our life and we say, that was a true experience of love in that |
| 2:27.8 | moment, then we not only are having something to be thankful for, but we are coming to a greater understanding of what God |
| 2:38.6 | is and how he is working in our lives. So when we find love, we also find God. So think through |
| 2:48.7 | your day and think of all of the times that you experienced love. Now, |
| 2:53.9 | one clarification that we do need to make is that we're talking about true and genuine love, |
| 3:01.2 | a love for which you would be willing to sacrifice yourself or even suffer for. We're not talking about like a type of food that you really |
