Hey there, Sprouse. Today is Tuesday, November 10th, 2020.

0:27.9

It is also the feast day of St. Leo the Great.

0:31.6

Now, this week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are continuing our Jesus series by understanding the call that he gave to those

0:40.7

he met in real life way back when the gospel was really happening.

0:45.8

But something he also calls us to do, and that is a calling to be his disciple.

0:52.4

We talked about through the example of Peter, Andrew, James, and John, but then also Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, that this call to follow Jesus and be his disciple is different for each of us. We all have the same call, but the way that it plays out, the things that we are called to do and be as his disciple,

1:12.6

are each beautifully different. And so today we have the incredible example of Pope St. Leo

1:55.7

for fighting the heresies of his time. Now a heresy is a false teaching. It is teaching something that is

2:05.2

untrue about Jesus Christ, and there were many false teachings at the time. There are two ways to

2:12.7

deal with a heresy when you are a pope. You can either kick people out of the church or even have them killed,

2:19.8

or you can be like Pope Leo the Great and pray very, very hard, try to discuss these false

2:28.8

teachings with the people teaching them and try to reach a conversion for them.

2:36.2

This is what Pope St. Leo the Great did.

2:38.1

He was known as a great father.

2:45.1

He, of course, stood strong on the truth, but he tried to bring everyone, even those that have been misled, into that truth.

2:48.6

Pope St. Leo the Great also lived during an interesting time. At the time, there were
