| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:38.8 | Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Monday, January 24th, 2020. This week on the Catholic Sprouts, we are going to be talking about fear. Now, a couple months ago, we talked about fear of the Lord, which is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, but that's not what we are talking about here. |
| 0:42.9 | Today we're going to be talking about fear in the way that we usually use that word. |
| 0:48.4 | We're talking about fear, like worry or anxiety. |
| 0:53.1 | And the reason why we are talking about fear is because in the past couple months, |
| 0:58.6 | a lot of us have been dealing with fear or even living in fear in a way like we never have |
| 1:05.6 | before. |
| 1:07.3 | Because really, the world is a little bit of a scarier place now than it was before. Perhaps you've |
| 1:15.2 | experienced how scary it can feel. Maybe you've headed out to Mass and you, while sitting there, |
| 1:22.8 | have looked around and seen the entire congregation in masks. And not only looks strange, but even to an adult, |
| 1:31.5 | that looks a little bit scary. And perhaps you've been told that you shouldn't get too close to |
| 1:37.7 | other people. And even your friends that you should avoid hugging them or being too close to them. |
| 1:43.6 | Well, that feels strange as well, |
| 1:46.4 | and it can also feel a little bit scary. Now, both of these things are good, and I hope that an adult |
| 1:54.3 | has explained to you that by keeping our distance from other people, we can not only protect ourselves from getting sick, |
| 2:02.6 | but also protect others from getting sick as well. So being cautious is good, but it is not okay |
| 2:12.3 | to live in fear or to allow fear to control us. Now, what does this mean? And I know for those of you |
| 2:22.7 | listening that this is a tricky line. And before we go into any of the content this week, |
| 2:28.4 | I want to make it very clear that you should obey your parents, that you should carefully discern with your own family, |
| 2:37.3 | how you live your life. And what we are talking about here is just the bigger concepts of what |
| 2:43.6 | it means to be a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ in the world, and what it means to deal with fear as a Christian. |
| 2:55.8 | So what is fear? Well, fear, of course, is worry or anxiety, and we all feel fear. If you are at a zoo |
