You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith.

0:29.5

Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Thursday, August 6th, 2020. It is also the feast day of the Transfiguration. So do you remember what happened at the Transfiguration? Well, Jesus was transfigured. He went to the top of a mountain with a few of

0:41.6

his closest disciples. And while he was there in prayer, he was lifted up and his body was transformed

0:49.1

into something that was glowing. And there with him were some prophets from the Old Testament.

0:56.0

Of course, watching the disciples fell down in awe and wonder. And they had this opportunity

1:02.1

of seeing that everything Jesus had been saying was true. He truly was God. And then to really

1:09.7

bring it home, God spoke from heaven and declared that Jesus was

1:13.9

his beloved son. So today on the Feast of the Transfiguration, I encourage you to really work on

1:22.1

this virtue of wonder and awe, that you never stop marveling at the love of our God, at how he knows us,

1:31.4

us in particular, so well, and how he loved us enough to die for us. That should never become

1:37.9

boring for us. So stand with the disciples this morning on the top of the mountain and really marvel at the

1:46.5

amazing God that we have. Now today we are going to continue to talk about the Eighth

1:53.0

Commandment, which commands us to be truthful and honest. And so yesterday we talked about

1:58.5

what it means to speak the truth, which is super important, but perhaps even more important is that we live the truth.

2:08.0

Now, what does it mean to live the truth? Well, first of all, we must know the truth, and the truth, of course, is Jesus Christ.

2:20.1

If you want to go even more in depth with what the fullness of the truth, and the truth, of course, is Jesus Christ. If you want to go even more in depth with what the fullness of truth is that we enjoy as Catholics, you need to look to the creed. Every

2:28.4

Sunday in Mass, we stand and we make a profession of faith, meaning we profess, we say boldly everything that we believe.

2:39.5

At Mass on Sundays, we recite something called the Nicene Creed. And the Nicene Creed was

2:45.6

written back by the fathers of the faith back in the 300s.

2:51.1

It was written at two different councils.

2:54.5

One of these councils took place in Nicaea.

2:57.0

The other one took place in Constantinople.
